Irvignton offers great cuisine
For over 100 years, Lord & Burnham occupied the Bridge Street complex of buildings, supplying glass conservatories and greenhouses to their wealthy Hudson Valley customers. In 1912, at the height of business, the company employed 250 men, but by 1988, only about a dozen employees remained at the Irvington factory, and Lord and Burnham ceased to exist, and the factory closed that same year. Bridge Street Properties is one of those factories, a Lord & Burnham factory originally constructed in 1872. Meticulously and painstakingly restored, and because it can entice a Manhattan business to pack up and move north, the Bridge Street Properties section of the Irvington waterfront became known as "SoHo on the Hudson."
Bridge Street Properties has attracted a variety of traditional and creative manufacturing, service, and professional firms to scenic Irvington.
This historic yet contemporary, 100-year-old factory site features office suites and lofts ranging from 600 to 24,000 square feet, advanced voice and data communication technology, and a new, environmentally-friendly "Green Building." The current roster of tenants consists of a wide range of businesses, from restaurants to creative and high-tech professional firms. With them, they've brought an NYC-style, sophistication and energy that, when blended with the tranquility, history, and charm of Irvington, makes for a unique environment in which to live and work.
